Program Summary
You are invited to participate in the Senior Mentor Program, conducted by Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In order to participate, you must be 65 years of age or older, in general good health and living independently.
The Senior Mentor Program is designed to help medical students become more competent, confident, and compassionate when working with older adults. Being a Senior Mentor means that you are volunteering to meet with a pair of medical students 3 times during the Spring semester of the students’ first year and 3 times during the Fall semester of the students’ second year of their medical school experience. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the meetings will take place virtually using platforms such as Zoom, FaceTime or Skype at a mutually agreed upon time between the Senior Mentor and medical student team. If OSU leadership approves a return to in-home visits during your participation in the Senior Mentor Program, you will be contacted to determine if you approve for meetings to take place in your home or if you would prefer to continue virtual meetings.
-
Assignments
During the 1-hour meetings you will be asked to assist your medical students in completing their assignments.
