Abe Hesser Scholarship

The Abe Hesser Scholarship selection committee will choose FIVE students (undergraduate and graduate students are both eligible) to receive a $1000 scholarship for the spring 2023 semester. Applications are due to the Fran Gragg online by 5:00pm on Friday, March 10th, 2023.

Applicants who meet the following criteria are invited to apply for the scholarship:
• Enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking student at Oklahoma State University in upcoming fall semester
• Have at least a 3.0 GPA
• Have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours (for undergraduate students) or at least 18 credit hours (for graduate students) by the end of the spring semester in which you apply for the scholarship
• Have not received the Abe Hesser Scholarship within the previous academic year
• Undergraduate students only: Be on the Student Union payroll and work at least 10 hours per week OR be a member of the Student Union Activities Board
• Graduate students only: Have a graduate assistantship position within the Student Union

Applicants who are exceptionally qualified will meet the following criteria:
• Be studying within a field related or leading to a career in student union administration
• A demonstrated desire to work professionally in student union administration, campus life, campus/union programming, or a related field
• An ability to connect experiences from their involvement with the OSU Student Union to their career aspirations

Only complete applications will be accepted for review. A complete application will include:
• A completed application information sheet
• A copy of the applicant’s current transcript
• At least one letter of recommendation from an OSU faculty or staff member, excluding any members of the selection committee
• A statement, no more than one page in length (12pt font in a standard typeface), of how you believe you have contributed to the OSU Student Union and how the Union has impacted you as a student

The selected students will be asked to draft a letter thanking the Hesser family for their generous gift and letters informing the family of your career path and opportunities.
